The first edition of the Honourable Ihunwo Victor Nyeche, JP, (Mayor’s) Cup 2018 comes to an end.
The first edition of the Honourable Ihunwo Victor Nyeche, JP, (Mayor’s) Cup) 2018 has come to an end in the city of Port Harcourt today.
The tournament which began on Saturday 1st of December, 2018, featured 20 teams from the 20 wards in the city, had Ward 7 emerging as the maiden champions after defeating Ward 4 by a lone goal scored in the first half of the game.
Presenting the cup to the champions, the Mayor commended all the teams that participated in the tournament and thanked the members of the technical committee for a job well done.
He implored the Youths to eschew violence, be law abiding and remain united for the progress and growth of Port Harcourt City, and Rivers State as a whole.
The Mayor reechoed his position on hosting the female edition of the competition to strike gender balance.
The Mayor used the same medium to solicit for votes for all the PDP candidates for the National and State Elections coming in 2019, telling the people to come out en masse to vote all the PDP candidates in 2019 for effective, positive and people oriented governance.
Earlier, Ward 15 also defeated ward 8 by a lone goal, on the same turf, to emerge the second runner up of the tournament.
The finals which witnessed a throng of spectators at the St. Andrew’s Primary School field, Mile 1, Diobu, Port Harcourt, also had the Deputy Mayor, Mrs Fiberesima; Phalga leaders like Hon. Chikere, Dr Sam Kalagbor, Hon.CHINYERE IGWE, Mr IKECHI Chinda and many others in attendance.
