Five things we learnt with APC failure in Rivers State as Supreme Court thrashed their case again.

Posted on February 12, 2019February 12, 2019

Rivers State APC.

The supreme court has dismissed the appeal filed by the Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the 2019 elections.

The faction of the party headed by Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, had challenged the judgment of a high court in Rivers which barred the party from conducting primaries to nominate candidates to represent the party in the forth coming election.

The high court judgement was based on a suit filed by the Rivers APC faction led by Magnus Abe, a serving senator.

Abe had asked the court to annul the congresses and primaries which the rival faction conducted.

Relying on the judgment, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had failed to enlist candidates of the party for the governorship, national and state assembly elections.

Below are the five simple common sense things we learnt from the failure to field candidates in Rivers State.

1. Negotiation: Rotimi Amaechi believes he is the leader, which he is indeed, but he failed to negotiate effectively with stakeholders. like Magnus Abe who is an institution in APC Rivers and has structure. As a leader, always negotiate with your colleagues and subject. Nobody is autonomous of power.

2. Gov Wike covenant. Truely, Gov Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike is destined to rule Rivers state. The Mayor of Port Harcourt Victor Ihunwo Nyeche said it during the PDP campaign rally in Port Harcourt. God is with Gov Wike side.

3. Not all fight worth fighting for. Rotimi Amaechi wouldnt have fought Magnus Abe. He would have just called him for table discussion.

4. Judiciary is still much relevant in Nigeria. The Nigeria is still alive. The judiciary is still working.

5. Rivers State is fully PDP. And Rivers State will likely experience peaceful election. Inciting hate speech is not a way of solving problems. Always know when you are conquered in a battle and step out, so that you might have strength to fight another day.
