Posted on November 30, 2018November 30, 2018

Engineers in Rivers state. (Okoye Chidiebele Stephens).

Some of the professional Engineers has put the major blame on governor Nyesom Wike over the collapse of storey building in Port Harcourt.

The Engineers blame gov Wike for neglecting engineers and technocrats in his administration and appointments.

“No Engineers nor architects are heading sensitive positions in Rivers state government and commission. Go to ministry of works, you see no engineers but lawyers, Urban development and physical planning -no technocrats, surveyors nor engineers heading the ministry. The don’t understand material balance and applied mechanics of building, that leads to collapse of the storey building. I call on gov Nyesom Wike to always do the needful, appoint technocrats and engineers to head the necessary commission. ” -Prof (Engr) Paul Amadi.

The commissioner of Urban Development and Physical planning -Dr Reason Onya has stepped aside. The last update on the collapse storey building shows that 7 were rescued alive and 23 died.
