RIWAMA Taskforce Brutalised Mother And Son To Stupor
– Residents said the RIWAMA taskforce is a group of ‘cultists’ looking for who to devour.

Rivers state people have taken to social media and other platforms to voice out and condemn the brutal attacks on a student of Rivers State University Port Harcourt, Joseph Adigo, and his mother by members of the Rivers State Environmental Taskforce.
Mr Adigo according to the story he posted on social media was attacked and inflicted with severe body injuries when he went to dispose of waste at Government dump sites in the state capital, Rumuigbo precisely.
Rivers people referred to the task force as a group of cultists recruited by the acting Sole administrator, Hon. Prince Ohia who are capable of killing and kidnapping residents in the name of the task force if care is not taken.
The incident has been brought to the notice of the State Police Command for proper investigation and action.
Below is what the victim, Adigo said:
” I am Joseph Chigoziem Adigo, a student of Rivers State University, Chemistry Department 200 level. On Wednesday 12th June 2024 at past 10 pm, I went to dispose of refuse at a government-approved dump site while returning home I was dragged by a group of men into a nearby vehicle, I didn’t know who they were and I tried resisting them and the six of them pounced on me, beat me up mercilessly and in the process my mother came and started begging them, that was when I knew that they where members of the Rivers State environmental sanitation.
My mother entered their vehicle and started begging them, they also beat up my mother and as the vehicle started moving they pushed my mother out of their vehicle.
I was wounded on my face, my right eye is bad currently and my mother’s body is seriously battered. If they had stopped me and informed me of my offense, I wouldn’t have resisted them but instead, they dragged me like a thief without telling me what I committed. I want the world to see this Injustice.” – Adigo.
Reacting to the development, the Rivers State Environmental official said he would dig to know more about the incident.
“……without making defenses for the task force, our policy says waste should be brought out between 6 pm to 10 pm. Why is he bringing waste after 10 pm at the same time claiming he doesn’t know his crime?
2) they may not be agents of RIWAMA but caught on his fragrance disobedience of the law to harass him and the mum.
3) I will dig to know more but I need the area where the incident happened.”
Dez Mayors News earlier reported that a group under the aegis of Niger Delta Youth Leaders, allegedly accused the Acting Sole Administrator, Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Hon. Prince Ohia of favoritism, sabotage, and political -hunting in dealing with the affairs of the agency; on a protest last week called on the resignation of the RIWAMA boss for proper investigations to be carried out by a neutral person or group of persons.
The group allegedly said the acting Sole administrator Prince Ohia is hijacking the resources of the agency to himself, awarding contracts to his wife, employing only his friends and his Omoku relatives, and leaving the cities of Port Harcourt and beyond dirty.
The group said they aimed to call the attention of the governor and nothing more.
