– Okrika Archdeaconry Received 2024 Synod Hosting Flag

The guest preacher, Rt. Revd (Dr.) Stephen Oni, Bishop of the Diocese of Ondo, has reminded christians that God created everyone on earth for a specific purpose. The Bishop was Speaking at the Thanksgiving service to end the 2nd session of the 7th Synod of the Diocese of Okrika at the Cathedral Church of St Peter on Sunday May 7th 2023. Oni who is the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Ondo said that just like Moses, Joshua, and Samson in the Bible, God raised us for a specific duty.

“God has raised you for a reason,” the Bishop said. That reason involves wrestling because life is a battle.”

He encouraged christians to be more prayerful and fight on their knees if they want to be fulfilled in life and experience good health and fulfillment.

However, the Bishop assured the church that christians are more than conquerors because Jesus paid for their victory.

He reminded the church that they are witnesses of Jesus Christ here on earth. And as people who are representing God, Christians carry His glory, honour, and power. (Acts 1.8) The earth has been overwhelmed with pain, struggles, and challenges. That is why the earth awaits the manifestation of this power God has deposited in His children. ‘God is waiting for you to manifest His power in your home, workplace and everywhere you find yourself,” the Bishop said.

Bishop Oni further reminded him listeners that weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. In concluding, Bishop Oni re-etirated that God has crowned each us with two things: glory and honour. (Hebrews 2.7) These two things make us higher than angels.
He prophesied open heavens and restoration of lost blessings on everyone. He decreed God’s visitation to Okrika land such that she would be remembered.

The Chairman of the Central Synod Planning Committee took the Old Testament Reading, while the local organizing committee chairman Dame Florence Iyagba took the New Testament.
