Skills Acquisition In Port Harcourt: The ‘Youth Impact’ Mayor Visits Training Centers.

The Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir Allwell Ihunda visited training Centers of the 2nd batch of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Entrepreneurship, Trades & Skills Development Programme.

Dez Mayorz Media gathered through the Press Statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Port Harcourt City Local Government, Bob Abayomi.

Sir Allwell Ihunda was pleased at the standard obtainable in the various training centers, advised the trainees to take advantage of the opportunity and make good use of the acquired knowledge not just to be employable but also to be employers of labour.

The Mayor and his entourage visited the office of the Rector of the institution, Eze Dr. Sam Kalagbor to appreciate him for the collaboration and partnership of the Institution towards the success of the programme.

In his address to the Rector, Sir Allwell Ihunda said he will continue the programme inline with his administation’s target to train over 5000 youths and women before the expiration of the administration.

The Rector of the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic Dr. Sam Kalagbor commended Sir Allwell Ihunda’s administration for fulfilling his campaign promises.

“I believe that this is also a fulfilment of some of the promises made during your campaigns.” -Dr. Sam B Kalagbor added.

The visitation was done by the Mayor of Port Harcourt, Sir Allwell Ihunda, Skills Acquisition Committee, Port Harcourt City Council Principal officers and retinue of aides.

The youth impact, Sir Allwell Ihunda has involved 550 youths into learning various skills within his one year in office including the 200 youths and women graduated from the first batch of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Entrepreneurship,Trades and Skills Development Programme and the 370 youth currently undergoing training in the second batch.

The skills include: ICT and Data Base Administration, Cinematography and photography, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration, Computer & GSM Maintenance, Scaffolding, Crane operation, Welding & Fabrication, Computer Operation Basic, Shoe making, Fashion designing, Combination of Pipeline & structural welding training, Catering and confectionery, Facial makeover, Gele crafts, cosmetology, hair dressing, fashion designing, pedicure and manicure.
