Dr. Samuel Kalagbor lauds Governor Nyesom Wike for Construction of Governing Council Building and Internal Roads in the Polytechnic

Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola, held her 30th Matriculation Ceremony.

Addressing the new students, the Rector stated: “I am delighted to welcome you all on behalf of the Governing Council, Academic Board, Staff and Students of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic to this 30th Matriculation Ceremony of 2020/2021 academic session of the Polytechnic.

” We are sincerely grateful to God who graciously made today’s event a reality and protected the Polytechnic Community from the vagaries of the COVID-19 pandemic and security challenges at this time.”

Charging the students to shun social vices, the Rector maintained that the Polytechnic has zero-tolerance to cultism, examination malpractices, sorting, sexual harassment, indecent dressing, stealing and other unwholesome behaviours, warning that culprits would be fished out and sent home.

He also informed them that the foundation of the institution was built on excellence and integrity, adding that lecturers are not allowed to sell hand-outs while recommended books were only to be purchased in the bookshop. He equally assured them of a serene and conducive learning environment.

In his words, ” I am proud to inform you that the Polytechnic has significantly sustained and consolidated the gains of the change of nomenclature from ” College” to ” Polytechnic” in 2016,” Kalagbor said.

He thanked His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS (Africa) for the construction of the Governing Council Building Complex and construction of internal roads and drainages in the Polytechnic.

He continued: ” Today, a total of (2,198) students enrolled for matriculation into the various programmes of the Polytechnic.”

He noted that the Department of Accounting has been granted professional accreditation by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria( ICAN). Similarly, the Department of Banking and Finance was also equally granted professional accreditation by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIB).

The highpoint of the matriculation ceremony was an oath of loyalty by the freshmen to abide by the Polytechnic’s rules and regulations and a pledge to appreciate and cherish her ideals, as well as the signing of matriculation register at their various faculties.
