The Minister of Labour and Productivity (state) has debunked the information circulating on social media which directs applicants for the 774,000 Special Project Works (SPW) to visit their various states’ National Directorate of Employment, NDE, offices.
The Minister, Festus Keyamo said contrary to the fake news, the recruitment won’t be done at the various states’ NDE offices but will be done from LGA to LGA so that the COVID-19 protocol won’t be breached.
“Kindly disregard all messages directing people to go to NDE offices to register for the Special Public Works.
“This will breach COVID-19 guidelines and it will not ensure we strictly achieve the 1000 per LGA.
“The selection will be done from LGA to LGA, not in States’ NDE offices.”
The minister also said that any form submitted to APC ward leaders is null and void and such form won’t be accepted stressing that; “THIS IS NOT AN APC PROGRAMME but a programme FOR ALL NIGERIANS”.
“I have NOT directed that forms for the SPW be distributed to APC Ward leaders to give to party members. Any of such list will be discountenanced.
“THIS IS NOT AN APC PROGRAMME but a programme FOR ALL NIGERIANS. We shall ONLY accept final lists from the States’ Selection Committees.”
The SPW is an initiative of the FG geared towards hiring 774,000 persons in all the local government areas of the country from October to December on a monthly salary of N20,000.
Each of the 774 LGAs is entitled to 1,000 employees, who will clear drainage, repair roads, direct traffic and clean the environment.
