Phalga Fed Constituency 2, House of Representatives 2019 : Why Sir Collyns Owhonda decided to run.
Few days ago, there was a viral news making rounds on social media purportedly credited to Sir Collyns Owhonda’s personal decision to withdraw from contesting in the forthcoming House of Representatives Primaries and subsequent general elections in 2019. The news stimulated bad feelings and great concern within Sir Collyns friends, associates and teeming political family across the ten wards that formed the nucleus of the Phalga Fed Constituency 2, including party leadership at the ward level up-to State . Worried by the development, Sir Collyns Owhonda’s house was besieged on daily basis by true progressives who felt great concern for the party’s future and the Federal Constituency.
Given the persistent and unflinching push by the constituents for Sir Collyns Owhonda to put to bed his earlier decision which he attributed to very personal reasons, Sir Collyns chose the wise path and adhered to the overwhelming clarion call of all and sundry in the constituency and beyond.
Subsequently, Sir Collyns Owhonda picked his interest form, filled and submitted same at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja.
We wish to use this medium to debunk the statement making rounds that, Sir Collyns Owhonda stepped down because a certain aspirant was claiming that HE Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has personally anointed him. There is a difference between “step-down and withdraw”. That was a malicious rumour spreading around, aimed at misinforming and misleading the teeming supporters of Sir Collyns Owhonda and also to tarnish the good image of the Hon Minister of Transportation who of course knows the political pedigree and social disposition of each aspirants in Phalga Fed Constituencies.
For most Phalgarians who have personal contact with Sir Collyns Owhonda can attest to his creative mind and people oriented political theories. He has over time being massively involved in building the party structures from the ward to the State level. He has an unalloyed loyalty to human capacity development and support sustainable friendship.
Sir Collyns is an astute believer in continuous improvement, little wonder his constituents couldn’t afford his absence from the mainstream of the Federal House of Representatives.
Now that the opposition nightmare is back on the block, it is our collective responsibility to discountenance the coarse rumours and propagate the need to revive the lost glory of Phalga Federal Constituency 2 through Sir Collyns Owhonda; who is the choicest aspirant based on popular demand, acceptability, party leadership choice, experience, popularity and ability to win the 2019 general election.
Having decided to salvage the short-changed people of the Constituency in human and infrastructural development, as a renowned philanthropist and a human capacity building facilitator to indigenous and non- indigenous people; the indigent people, physically challenged people, Religious groups, Schools, Communities living within and outside his Constituency. It is expedient that we must make manifest his task and target.
We wish to appreciate the spirited efforts of the good people of Phalga Federal Constituency 2, for their steadfastness and believe in Sir Collyns Owhonda. Our appreciation also goes to the party leadership who believes in the sanctity of the party’s prominence and victory.
Our many thanks to the Hon Minister of Transportation for his foresightedness and zeal in the reclamation of the House of Representatives seat through the amiable Sir Collyns Owhonda.
