Protest: Rivers State Police Command Addresses Traditional Rulers And Other Stakeholders
– Igbos, Yorubas, Hausas living in Rivers State backed out of the protest.

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Tunji Disu, has advised stakeholders, and residents of the state on the possible way to behave in the course of the coming 1st August protest.
Tunji Disu advised while addressing various stakeholders at a townhall meeting with traditional rulers, community leaders, NUJ, NLC, TUC, IPAC, political parties, NGOs, youth bodies, Student unions, and other stakeholders on Monday.
Dez Mayorz News reports that there have been reports of a planned nationwide protest by some Nigerians over hardship in the country.
The protest is planned to begin on Aug. 1 and end on Aug. 10.
Tunji Disu said that police will always protect lives and properties, and the residents should not attack any group or groups that might come out to protest.
Nigeria is faced with divided opinions over the August 1 protest, with economic hardship fueling debate and tension among leaders and citizens.
Most of the stakeholders said their groups would not be protesting.
The Chairman, Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty, Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, Paramount Ruler of Apara Kingdom in Obio/Akpor LGA, said Rivers State Indigenes are not protesting.
In the same manner, most of the traditional rulers representing the Igbos, Yorubas, Hausas, and others in Rivers State said their people would not be part of the protest.
They also praised the commissioner of police for neutralising notorious criminals in the state, and urged the police boss to continue with his great works in Rivers State.
