– Said such dirty unsterilized compactors and unpacked refuse is a strong avenue for possible Chlorera outbreak.

The Rivers people across several streets and LGA in Rivers State have frowned at the indiscriminate park of Rivers State Waste Management Agency-RIWAMA’s unsterilized and dirty trucks and compactors in the streets of Port Harcourt day and night.
Said such recent attitudes of RIWAMA across the state especially at Oringwo Road, Mile 4 Rumueme,
is a strong avenue for a possible outbreak of Cholera.
They stated that RIWAMA has vehemently refused to evacuate its dirt and unsterilized compactors.
They used the opportunity to appeal to the Government of Rivers State to call the Agency (RIWAMA) to order and evacuate their trucks and compactors as a matter of urgency for the sake of the health of the environs and the general public, especially mothers and children health care.
As earlier reported by Dez Mayorz News; the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Rivers State, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh in a press briefing said Cholera remains a major public health concern, particularly in Nigeria, and indeed Rivers State.
She stated that In the past four weeks, Rivers State had about 16 suspected cases of acute watery diarrhea with two associated deaths.
Noted that the scenario was rapidly resolved, and so far, no active cases or any outbreak of cholera or acute watery diarrhea in the state.
RIWAMA for weeks now has been under scrutiny and negative side of the news as a group of people allegedly accused the Acting Sole Administrator, Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Hon. Prince Ohia of favoritism, sabotage, and political winch-hunting in dealing with the affairs of the agency.
In a protest, the group called on the resignation of the RIWAMA boss for proper investigations to be carried out by a neutral person or group of persons; accused him of hijacking the resources of the agency to himself, awarding contracts to his wife, employing only his friends, his company staff and his Omoku relatives, and leaving the cities of Port Harcourt and beyond dirty.
A few days ago, the RIWAMA Taskforce brutalized mother and son into a stupor.
