PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS EMERGE AS SEMI-FINALISTS IN A GLOBAL TECH COMPETITION
Six pupils from Jacobs Well Montessori, Port Harcourt has emerged as a semifinalist in a Global Mobile App Competition known as Technovation.
The girls, Ella, Joy, Tiffany, Mfoniso, Ese, and Deborah are pupils of primary 5&6. And are 9 and 10 years old. They developed two mobile applications Called GBS and CASH TRASH.
GBS Alert is a mobile app that helps promote the reporting of gender-based violence in Nigeria on time with the reporter’s identity being masked.
Our solution has an alert button feature that when hit by the victim quickly sends an alert message both to the victim’s emergency partners and the government authorities with audio evidence of such abuse.
While CashTrash is an AI-powered mobile app that helps users easily recognize and classify recyclable wastes in Nigeria. It also connects its users to available nearby recycling waste agents for exchange of their sorted wastes for cash.
It is a happy moment for the girls, the school and their mentor Mr Somkene Mamah, founder of Code Ambassadors Lab Port Harcourt.
We celebrate them even as we wish them success in the remaining part of the competition.
