RIWAMA’s New Board Partners with Professionals for Innovative Solutions

Waste Management Gets a Boost:

With the positive outcome of last Saturday’s State wide environmental sanitation exercise the Rivers State Government is determined to reclaim the garden city status. Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has taken a significant step towards improving waste management in the state, the board has partnered with professionals in the waste management sector to develop innovative solutions for effective waste management.

Speaking during the strategic meeting Dr. Ibimina Wokoma Managing Director RIWAMA expressed the need for collaborative effort towards changing the wrong narrative on waste management in the state. Dr. Ibimina Wokoma emphasized that the newly constituted board members are all competent and carried the zeal to restore the garden city status. He stressed that with the plans and programs put in place very soon Rivers State will be ranked the best clean State in Nigeria.

Also speaking at the meeting Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, Chairman RIWAMA Board disclosed that the Agency will leave no stone unturned in its resolve to have a clean and green state.

The RIWAMA Board Chairman commended the partners for her innovative ideas in Waste Management and promised that the new board will drive every good process that benefits the environment and public health in the State, while urging them to take into cognisance our environmental perculiarity as they profer possible solutions.

In his response Dr Ibrahim Odumboni ( MD, Le Dynasty Acres Limited), former MD, LAWMA said the team is in Rivers State to review waste challenges and design a sustainable waste management solution for the state. He said the areas of concentration will include; Staff/Workers Competence, Commercial Viablility of the agency, Suatainable solutions to perenial waste management challenges in the State, funding issues, Job opportunities, Service providers motivation and efficiency, equipment/technical issues etc.
