RIWAMA Embarks on Feasibility Study Tour with Waste Management Consultants

The Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has commenced a feasibility study tour across key locations in Port Harcourt and its environs, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen waste management systems and promote a cleaner, healthier environment.

During the tour with waste management consultants, RIWAMA identified several strategic sites requiring attention and intervention.

These include:
Mile 3 Market, Ikwerre Road
Mile 1 Market, Ikwerre Road (Opposite Nigerian Police Station)
Nzimiro, Herbert Macaulay, Old GRA, Creek
Eastern Bypass Bridge
Abuloma Town Waterfront
Nembe Waterfront, Creek Road
Creek Road Market
Bundu Waterfront, Dockyard axis.

According to officials, the exercise is aimed at assessing the peculiar waste challenges in these areas and developing practical solutions tailored to the growing urban population.

RIWAMA noted that the study will guide the agency’s future interventions, with emphasis on sustainable waste disposal, environmental health, and modern waste-to-wealth opportunities.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Rivers State Government in ensuring that Port Harcourt maintains its reputation as the Garden City.
