The momentum of the 2025 Local Government Election campaign in Rivers State gained fresh energy in Diobu Axis (Ward 10, 17, and 18), Port Harcourt, as Sir (Hon.) Allwell Ihunda DSSRS, JP, led his mayoral campaign team to Diobu.
The visit turned into a major political show of love and strength, with Chief Hon. Sam Soni Ejekwu, PhD, KGS, displaying massive capacity and rallying grassroots support for Ihunda’s re-election.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Hon. Ejekwu commended Sir Ihunda’s outstanding performance in his first tenure, stressing that no Mayor in Port Harcourt’s history has matched his achievements.
He noted that from infrastructural renewal to youth empowerment and community development, Ihunda’s record speaks volumes.
“The office of the Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government is not a place for trial and error. It is a serious business. Sir Allwell Ihunda has the pedigree, competence, and proven track record to continue delivering for our people. His re-election will consolidate the gains already recorded and open fresh opportunities for economic growth, empowerment in Nkpolu-Oroworukwo (Mile 3 Diobu axis) and beyond,” Ejekwu declared.
Hon. Ejekwu further commended the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, describing him as the leader of Rivers State politics and the political backbone that has sustained development in Port Harcourt and the FCT Abuja.
He reaffirmed that Ihunda’s performance is a testament to Wike’s political mentorship and vision for the Rivers people.
The campaign event witnessed a massive turnout of residents, party faithful, and community leaders, who pledged their unwavering support for the PDP and its candidates ahead of the August 30th polls.
The Allwell Ihunda Campaign Council emphasized that the Mayor’s second-term agenda will focus on deepening economic empowerment, healthcare, education, expanding opportunities for youths and women, and sustaining infrastructural development across all wards of Port Harcourt City.
The campaign shows that FCT Nyesom is fully in charge of the Diobu Axis of Port Harcourt, which is now strongly behind him.
