Dez Mayorz Report.
Her statement obtained by Dez Mayorz News is read below.
Dear esteemed constituents of Bonny LGA.
I deeply share your concerns regarding the incessant robbery, boat hijackings, and other security threats along the Bonny Sea route. The safety and well-being of our people remain my top priority, and I have taken steps to address these pressing issues.
I have spoken extensively with the Chairman of the Local Government about the alarming security situation, and we have agreed to work assiduously together to ensure that peace and safety return to the area and our sea route. No one should have to live in fear while commuting or conducting their daily business.
Furthermore, I engaged with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, who has taken note of the situation and has given his full commitment that the security agencies will address our concerns. He assured me that decisive actions will be taken to restore safety to the area.
In addition, I have also spoken with the Honorable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, who is deeply passionate about the completion of the Bonny–Bodo Road. He has reassured me that the project is on track and will be completed before the end of the year. Once finished, this road will provide a safer and more reliable route for our people, reducing dependence on sea travel and its associated risks.
I am also aware of the oil spill that occurred over two months ago in Iloma community , which some have alleged remains unattended. My office has officially written to NOSDRA (National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency), urging them to look into the matter. We expect them to engage with the community, NNPC and its JV partners, as well as other relevant authorities to mitigate the impact and reduce exposure in the affected areas.
Please rest assured that I am doing everything within my capacity to safeguard the health, environment, security, and safety of everyone in our communities. My commitment to you remains unwavering, and I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure a safer and more prosperous future for all.
Thank you for your patience and trust. Together, we will build a better and safer region.
