Rivers LG Election: PHALGA Simplified Leaders Might Micro-Zoned Mayor Position To Mgbundukwu, Ward 14,15,16,17

The Simplified Movement in Rivers State has begun preparation for the Local Government election since Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission announced October 5, 2024, for the conduct of local government area elections in the state.

The Rivers State APC and PDP parties are unlikely to participate in the coming election, leaving the APP to gain more chances to produce the next LGA chairmen and councilors.

Dez Mayorz News gathered that most of the
current CTC Chairmen and their committee members are not going to contest the election as they are given the mandate to help conduct primaries in their LGAs.

Consultations are in the top gear in all the LGA.
In ONELGA, Comr. Osere Dennis is among the choicest candidates loved by the simplified movement in Omoku and beyond.

In Port Harcourt City local government area, the call by simplified leaders to micro-zoned the Mayor’s position to
Mgbundukwu of wards 14, 15, 16, and 17 of the Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 2, PHALGA is interesting.

The reason was that the mentioned Wards in PHALGA have not produced the Mayor, also that PHALGA has never micro-zoned her position to any of the three State Constituencies in her political justice system and the election of PHALGA Chairman in particular.
That PHALGA has conspicuously operated a Federal Constituency zoning arrangement.

Federal Constituency 1 is comprised of State Constituencies 1 & 2.
Whereas Federal Constituency 2 is Comprised of State Constituencies 1,2 & 3.

Qualified persons from Federal Constituency 2 are free to contest in line with the zoning arrangement.

A frontline opposition party loyal to the State Governor, the Action People’s Party (APP) has passed a vote of confidence on the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) to announce October 5, 2024, as the date for the conduct of local government areas election in the state.

The party also hailed Governor Siminalayi Fubara for giving the nod for the state electoral umpire to conduct elections for democratically elected local government chairmen and council wards councilors to emerge rather than allowing the undemocratic practice of caretaker governance at the third tier of government to continue unabated.
