The Rivers Ijaw Peoples’ Congress – Forum (RIPCOP) held a conference to tell the world that the Ijaws are not ungrateful to the FCT Minister who handed over power to an Ijaw man after his tenure.
Speaking to Dez Mayorz news and other newsmen in Port Harcourt on Sunday; Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, DSSRS, FNIQS debunked the insinuation in some quarters that there is disunity in Rivers Ijaw due to the political upheaval that has rocked the state in recent times.
Said the Ijaws are united in support of the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike because they are not ungrateful people.
“There is no division, what you have seen today is Rivers Ijaw speaking with one voice. An assemblage of Rivers Ijaw people, the crowd here is organic, and all the Ijaw LGAs are fully represented.
“We gathered here today to send a clear message to the world that Ijaw people are grateful people, we are not ingrates. Certain elements have sent some negative signals about Ijaw people, that are not what we as Izons represent. We represent truth, and we have an attitude of gratefulness.
“We are also here to appreciate the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike for making it possible for an Ijaw son to become Governor of Rivers State for the first time since 1999, and also to thank him for the several federal appointments he has secured for sons and daughters of Ijaw,” he said.
Rivers Ijaw Peoples’ Congress – Forum(RIPCOF), was drawn from the 12 LGA of the Ijaw extraction in Rivers State.
