South West Governors Agreed in Lagos State, at the South West Governors’ Forum, where they convened to address pressing regional and national issues.
After the meeting, they elected Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State as the new Chairman, succeeding the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi O. Akeredolu, SAN, CON.
Key conclusions from their discussions include:
– Urging the Senate to pass the South West Development Commission Bill, following the efforts of the House of Representatives and the South West Caucus.
– Commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project and advocating for further road rehabilitation.
– Supporting the establishment of State Police and enhanced collaboration between security agencies and the Amotekun Corps.
– Endorsing ongoing Minimum Wage discussions with a focus on fiscal federalism.
– Encouraging federal-state collaboration on mineral resource development and investor leases.
– Enhancing the DAWN Commission’s efficiency with an emphasis on economic integration.
