RIWAMA Contract Favoritism: Step Aside For Proper Investigation Of Our Claims To Take Place – Group Tells Prince Ohia
A group under the aegis of Niger Delta Youth Leaders, allegedly accused the Acting Sole Administrator, Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Hon. Prince Ohia of favoritism, sabotage, and political -hunting in dealing with the affairs of the agency; on a protest last week called on the resignation of the RIWAMA boss for proper investigations to be carried out by a neutral person or group of persons.
As earlier reported, the group allegedly said the acting Sole administrator Prince Ohia is hijacking the resources of the agency to himself, awarding contracts to his wife, employing only his friends and his Omoku relatives, and leaving the cities of Port Harcourt and beyond dirty.
The group said they aimed to call the attention of the governor and nothing more.
Following the allegations of political witch-hunt, contract favoritism, and inexperienced acting sole administrator; who is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environmental Sanitation, Hon. Prince Obi Ohia;
refuse contractors covering the Mile Three to Rukpokwu axis of Port Harcourt have come forward to refute the claims.
One of the contractors, Dr. Cornwell Ihunwo, stated that they have been working with the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) for a long time and still have existing contracts.
“I was surprised when I heard in the news that my contract has been given to Hon Ohia’s wife. Let me tell the public I have been working in RIWAMA for the past 9 years. My zone is from the School of Health to Rumuokwuta. As I’m talking to you, I’m still working. We have not in any way lost our job,” he said.
The Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, Malvin Abbey, also clarified that the agency did not re-award the contracts of the affected areas as alleged in the media report by the falsehood peddlers.
In all these, the Niger Delta Leader’s group is calling for the resignation of the RIWAMA acting boss, Prince Ohia; for a neutral person or group to investigate the allegation.
