ALGON SET TO SUE NIGERIA INFO FM FOR PEDDLING FALSEHOOD AND TRYING TO CAUSE DISAFFECTION AMONG LGA CHAIRMEN AND RIVERS STATE GOVERNOR

Local government Chairmen in Rivers State under the auspices of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) is set to sue the management of Nigeria Info 92.3 Fm for peddling falsehood against the 23 Local Government Chairmen in Rivers State.
The LGA chairmen describe as unprofessional and misleading the news aired on Nigeria Info 92.3 Fm 6:00 am major news on Monday, which insinuated that the 23 Local Government Chairmen in Rivers State were heading to the court to challenge the directive of Rivers State Governor , Sir Siminalaye Fubara to principal officers of Local Government Councils over minimum wage implementation and promotion of civil servants across the Local Governments in the State.
The Rivers chapter of ALGON under the chairmanship of the Mayor of Portharcourt, Sir Allwell Ihunda says the falsehood by Nigeria Info Fm is capable of causing disaffection among the Local Government Chairmen and the Governor of the State who are principal partners in the governance and development of Rivers State, stressing that no LGA chairman has ever opposed any directive from the office of the Governor, let alone one that has to do with the welfare of Local Government workers who have so far remained very supportive to their respective LGA chairmen.
ALGON demands that the Nigeria Info Fm produce and air a retraction of the falsehood in their major news bulletin for a period of seven days, to correct the negative narrative caused by the fake news or face a legal action.
