Teachers Day Celebration: Federal Government Girls College, Old Girls Association celebrates the past and present teachers of the college.

In line with the commemoration of this year’s World Teachers Day with the theme: ‘Teachers: Leading in Crisis, re-imagining the future.’
The event was held on October 5, 2023, at PTA Multipurpose Hall, Federal Government Girls College, Abuloma, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Apart from the Commissioning of a staff toilet project for teachers, the event also featured; Awards of Recognition, Presentation of Gifts to teachers (past/present), Lucky Dips, and Appreciation Messages/Gifts by members of the Association.
The event is dedicated to expressing gratitude and appreciation to the remarkable teachers who have played an instrumental role in shaping the lives of countless students; with an array of dignitaries, attendance aims to create a platform for current teachers to be inspired by former teachers of the institution.
While speaking at the event, the National President of the Association, Itoro Clement-Isong expressed her excitement about the upcoming event, she said that it became pertinent to put together the event considering the huge impact the teachers made/make in the lives of young minds during their formative years.
“As we commemorate World Teachers’ Day, we reflect on the profound impact that teachers have on the lives of individuals and society at large.
The teachers of Federal Government Girls College Abuloma have consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence, fostering an environment of learning, growth, and empowerment.’’ Itoro said.
Federal Government Girl’s College, Abuloma was set up in 1974 and opened in 1975, in Bokokiri, Port Harcourt with 34 students, 8 teachers and 14 non-teaching staff. The first principal was Mrs. Okobi.
