The Old Port Harcourt Township in Rivers State, Nigeria celebrated one of her outstanding young men, Late Atubolo Aggo after 20 years of death.
The 2 Days Remembrance Programme started on the 2nd of December, 2022 with a novelty football match between the 2 teams of the deseased, Brazil All Stars FC and the defunct Vandas FC (on one side) Vs. the rest of the world which ended 2-2; while Day 2 was a Symposium with the topic: “The Life and Times of Late Atubolo Aggo”.
The nostalgic / pace setting programme which was conceived by a committee of friends headed by Mr. Robertson Jack and supported by other friends of the deceased within and outside Nigeria was a gathering of well wishers, the deceased family members (notably his daughter: Miss Boma Aggo), neighbours, Chiefs, Political leaders, seasoned football personalities and successful businessmen etc., while DJ Ofori Williams, DJ. Belema Jama (BJ.) and Daddy West were behind the music, and Tekena Iyalla of the famous Funky 4 was the Master of Ceremony (MC.).
In their various speeches at the Symposium, friends and family members of Late Atube as the he was fondly called recalled his dependable character, unique social life, the sacrifices he made for friendship, his football exploits, humility and detribatribalised disposition.
High point of the programme was the display of Late Atubolo Aggo’s daughter’s account details for financial support to aid her.
In her vote of thanks, Boma Aggo, the daughter of Late Atubolo Aggo prayed God to abundantly bless the organisers of the programme and all those who made contributions to make the programme a success.
Dgnitaries present were His Royal Highness, Sir Henry Micah Biterefie, the Amadabo (Paramount Ruler) of Onubio, Twon Brass kingdom, Bayelsa State; Hon. Obinna Anyanwu, the Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State; Barr. Golden Tamuno, a seasoned legal luminary in the State; Mr. Tonye Ayerite, CSP Peter Onyechere (DPO), Mr. Aneri Obuebite, Director Procurement (Due Process), Bayelsa State and a host of other respected personalities.
