Rivers United Crown Champion Of Nigeria Professional Football League.
History was made at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt as Rivers United won their first league championship ever after defeating Gombe United 1-0.
Rivers United won the 2020–21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in the presence of the Rivers State governor, H.E. Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, Mayor of Port Harcourt Sir Allwell Ihunda, Amaju Melvin Pinnick president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Rivers State PDP gubernatorial candidate Sir Siminalayi Fubara, top dignitaries, families and fans.
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike presented the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League trophy in Port Harcourt on match day 38 to Rivers United team.
Governor Wike charged Rivers United, which will be representing the country at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League next season to work towards winning the continental prize.
He assured the team and its coaching staff the readiness of the State Government to render support that will make the club excel during at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League next season.
He announced the reward of One Million Naira for each member of the team for defeating Gombe United.
