The President spoke about a number of issues in the country in his view and perspective, including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu case, security and economy.

Below are 8 things he said.

1. On Security:

Buhari said state policing is not the solution. The Federal Government has formally declared bandit groups operating in the country as terrorists.

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to flush out criminals ravaging the country’s North West region, saying the government has already taken steps in that direction.

According to him, there have been successes in the fight against banditry in the region, noting that he has had a series of meetings with heads of security agencies in a bid to tackle the issues.

2. Farmers and Herders’ Clash:
The president insists on the grazing routes in the northern states as a solution. Says the traditional rulers are to go back to the old ways of farmers and herders relationship.

3. On Economy:
President Buhari continuously tells Nigerians to go back to the land and engage in Agriculture.

4. On Job Creation:
Education not ticket to government jobs, Buhari tells Nigerian Youths.
He told Nigerian youths to use their education and exposure to improve themselves and not see them as tickets to depend on the government.
“I wish when they go to school; when they work hard; when they earn their degree, they don’t do it thinking that government must give them jobs,” he noted.

5. On electoral bill:
President Muhammadu Buhari has stated his readiness to sign the Electoral Act Amendment Bill after the National Assembly makes the necessary adjustments.
He, however, said such changes must include the addition of consensus candidates, indirect primary options to the mode of selecting a candidate for an election, as against the initial direct mode as the only option to conduct primaries by political parties.

6. On Power:
I am not happy with the state of power in Nigeria – Buhari confessed.
He expressed his displeasure with the state of electricity in Nigeria.

7. Next president of Nigeria.
President Muhammadu Buhari said this on his favourite Presidential aspirant for 2023:

“My favourite may be eliminated before the time if I mention his name. I will keep it a secret”- Buhari.

8. On Nnamdi Kanu case:
President Buhari administration that has been delaying and adjourning the case of the leader of indigenous People Of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, says Nnamdi Kanu should defend himself in court.
Although he acknowledges the possibility of a political resolution if Nnamdi Kanu behaves himself to Nigerian tone, but believes the IPOB leader must answer for his actions over the years, especially while he was out of the country.
