*NEW YEAR: SIR ALLWELL IHUNDA TASKS THE PEOPLE OF PHALGA TO SUPPORT HIM IN THE PROMOTION OF PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT IN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT*
_Urge residents and business owners to desist from the practice of patronizing touts in the payments of their statutory taxes and levies_
Mayor Of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir Allwell Ihunda JP has tasked the people of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, irrespective of ethnic, religious or political difference to support him in the promotion of peace and development in the capital city.
In his new year’s message issued from his press office,Sir Allwell Ihunda said without peace no meaningful development can take place in any society.
He called for prayers for the state government ably led by Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, saying that God Almighty will continue to grant him the grace and enablement to pilot the affairs of our dear state in the new year.
Sir Allwell Ihunda expressed dismay at the patronage of touts by residents and business owners in the payments of their statutory taxes and levies accrue the Local Government Council.
He said his Administration will not condone this irresponsible act in the new year as the proper channel for payments of taxes and levies have been made public.
The Mayor said the new year 2022 will be characterized by sustainable development in the local government,adding that his Administration remains irrevocably committed to deposit capital projects across the twenty wards of the local government area.
He said three projects are currently ongoing simultaneously and the contractors have been paid part of the contract sum.
He listed the projects to include;a two storey sickbay in the council secretariat on moscow road,the Global computer center in Nkpolu Oroworukwo Community and the tools mall in urualla, Rumuwoji Community,Diobu.
The Mayor said the council will need sufficient funds to actualize these projects within the stipulated time frame of six months, and also embark on other policies like the human capacity development programmes.
He therefore urged residents and business owners to be committed in the prompt payment of their taxes and levies to enable his Administration deliver on its electioneering promises to the people.
Sir Allwell Ihunda said he is optimistic of a better and prosperous 2022 because he enjoys the support of the legislature, members of staff of the council, stakeholders of PHALGA, traditional rulers, religious leaders and his team of political appointees.
He said he will submit the 2022 Appropriation bill to the legislature for approval as he prepares for the onerous task of governance,also hit the ground running as the new year 2022 commences.
He felicitated with the people of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area,as they step into the new year and expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the grace he granted him and his people in the outgone year.
