The Mayor of Port Harcourt City, Sir, Allwell Ihunda JP. charges new graduands of the ‘Sir
Allwell Ihunda’s Skills Acquisition And Entrepreneurship Programme’ Hairstyle and make up department) to utilise the opportunity given to them to earn a living for themselves and their families.
The mayor was ably represented by his Deputy Hon. Engr, Tamunotonye Douglas
at the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the Hairstyle making and make up department, organized by “Beleza” in GRA, Port Harcourt City.
The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Dr Ezebunwo Nyeche on behalf of Sir Allwell Ihunda’s Skills Acquisition And Entrepreneurship Programme Committee, congratulated the graduands, says training, retraining and upgrading is now the global trend in the world.
Charges them to embrace the opportunity Port Harcourt City Mayor created for them and create jobs for themselves.
He told them not to wait to be employed but be creative with the Skills they have acquired and create jobs for themselves.
The Deputy Mayor, Hon. Tamunotonye Douglas advised the graduands not to sell the starter packs that will be given to them.
“Don’t sell your starter pack, use your skills and what you gain to develop yourself.
When you do well, the Mayor will again compliment your efforts by recommending you for loans.
The periodic grants will be given to beneficiaries who have performed creditably in their businesses.

The grauduands thanked the Mayor of Port Harcourt City for the opportunity to be part of the scheme, saying that it is a dream come through.
Also at the program were members of the Skills Acquisition Committee who came to witness the program.
The general graduation ceremony of the first batch of Sir Allwell Ihunda’s Skills Acquisition And Entrepreneurship Programme is scheduled to hold on November in the Port Harcourt City council, where 250 trainees will officially graduate.
The Mayor of Port Harcourt, Sir Allwell Ihunda JP is already fulfilling his campaign promises within his 100 days in office with the skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Programme ongoing in various centers in Port Harcourt.
The programme was earlier flagged off by the Rivers State Commissioner of Youth Development, Hon Prince Obi Ohia.
Most of the various skills considered in the first batch of the programme have successfully completed their Programmes, while others are rounding up; including the catering and confectionery department, ICT, facial makeover, photography, Gele crafts amongst other group of skills based training which include cosmetology, hairs dressing, fashion designing, pedicure and manicure.
The next batch that will likely start in January will cover production and manufacturing skills including; carpentry, welding, plumbering, etc.
Sir Allwell Ihunda, JP. beiieves skill acquisition is one of the important pillars that help many in actualising their dreams and aid those who are not privileged to work with public or private organisations with academic certificates to have livelihoods.
The essence of Sir Allwell Ihunda’s skill acquisition in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area is to increase employment opportunities and crime reduction in the societies.
The programme is already having direct influence on graduate and non graduate unemployment reduction in the City.
It also promotes culture of creative ideas, self-reliance, business initiative as well as low level of dependency among the youths in Port Harcourt.
There are so many benefits to be actualised in the Sir Allwell Ihunda’s skill acquisition, such as:
Self-employment.
Diverse job opportunities.
Employment generation.
Effective function.
Enhancement of activities.
Crime reduction.
Wealth creation, etc.
The skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programme is under the chairmanship of Hon Dr. Ezebunwo Nyeche, who ensures the trainees got quality, as he spreads the training centers of the various departments across Port Harcourt.
Mayor of Port Harcourt, Sir Allwell Ihunda said that aside the starter packs that will be given to the beneficiaries at the end of the programme, also periodic grants will be given to beneficiaries who have performed creditably in their businesses.
With that, door of wealth will be opened in Port Harcourt City.
The youth are glad and ready to enroll in the Mayor of Port Harcourt’s great initiatives which is a proper way to compliment the effort of Governor Nyesom Wike in Rivers State.
